Wholesale Aleppo Soap
Najel Aleppo Olive soaps are one of the best known and oldest soaps in the world. Made according to an age-old recipe of pure vegetable ingredients. The soaps are mixed, poured and then dried naturally in the sun for nine months. The same way for 4000 years.
The History of Aleppo Soap
This particular Aleppo soap was invented some 2,000 years ago by the Mesopotamians on the Bosphorus River. Around the year 1250 the soap was taken by the Crusaders to Marseille. The famous ‘Marseille soap’ actually comes from the Middle East. The Marseille soap has changed over time, unlike the original Aleppo soaps.
The Aleppo soap tradition
Every year in October or November (depending on the weather) when the bay berry oil and olive oil are extracted, the making of the soaps is started. In a large traditional saponification container the olive oil is poured together with water and soda so that the oil slowly saponifies. The mixture is poured into large flat trays and after cooling the soaps are cut by hand.
This process gives the Aleppo soap its specific appearance: a hard dark green rough outside and a somewhat softer light green inside. As a distributor and wholesaler of Aleppo soap, Yaviva is proud to be able to carry these soaps.
The tradition, the versatility and the natural softness … what a combination!
